Home Solar Panels – Build Them Yourself!

Americans want solar power!

I was reading about some survey the other day which says that 92% of Americans think it’s important for the U.S. to develop and use solar power.  And it didn’t matter which political party they were affiliated with, they all felt the same way.

Of those surveyed, 49% said they were thinking about getting solar power for their business or home and 70% said they would be having solar power installed within 5 years.  However, only 3% said that they were already using solar power.

Solar Energy Systems and Solar Power Plants

In just one hour, the sun provides enough energy to fulfill the earth’s energy requirements for an entire year.  Unfortunately, we’re only using a small fraction of that energy and still depend on fossil fuel burning power plants.  On the bright side, because of increased demand and new developments, solar energy systems cost less than ever before.

Why Not Rent Solar Panels?

Without a doubt a home solar energy system is environmentally friendly and, in the long run, highly economical.  However, even with government rebates, purchasing a professionally installed solar panel system is very expensive.  Since many homeowners can’t afford the substantial up-front costs, several companies are now offering the option to rent solar panels.

Build a Windmill – You Can Build a Windmill to Generate Electricity

When someone says you can build a windmill, you probably think back to pictures you’ve seen of European windmills which were originally built to grind grain and pump water.  Today’s modern windmills have a different purpose, they are used to generate electricity.  Both types use the same methodology to accomplish their goal.  They use the power of the wind to rotate its blades and the wind power is then converted into other forms of energy.

Are More Solar Energy Plants a Bad Thing?

As you may have heard, President Obama has decreed that by the end of next year, 10 percent of the country’s power must come from renewable energy sources.  By the year 2025, he wants that number to be 25 percent.

The U.S. has designated over 675,000 acres of land for an in-depth study to determine their possible use for solar energy development.  The land encompasses Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah.

Solar Energy Homes – Using Plastic Solar Panels

It may not be long before solar energy homes become commonplace. Experts agree that within a few years time, the cost of solar power will be lower than that of electricity produced using fossil fuels. Prior estimates, that it would take a decade or more for this to happen, no longer rings true.
