Here are some of the smaller, less taxing projects you can try when you want to use solar for your home. Some of these projects may not seem like much, but in the end you will be saving energy and, in some cases, money as well.

Want to find your way around outdoors after dark? One way to go solar is by installing outdoor solar lights around walkways, steps and driveways so you can see where you’re going at night. The most practical ones come with a built-in stake so just stick them anywhere you want. There are no wires to fool with or bury so if you want to move them just stick them somewhere else.

Many people choose to illuminate their homes, trees, lawn decorations or walkways with floodlights. You can now get solar floodlights, which typically come in a 3 pack along with a remote solar panel which you just stick in the ground anywhere you want. Although these are not plugged into your electrical outlet they do contain wires which run back to the remote solar panel.

You know that outside light you turn on at night which illuminates the front door area and you sometimes forget to turn off? You guessed it, that’s another small solar for your home project where you can save. With wall mounted solar lights just install them and forget about them. They go on and off automatically and come in some nice, attractive designs as well.

Before spending any money on solar lights, you must realize they are not going to cast as much light as standard light bulbs do. The light they emit is much more subtle but it should be sufficient enough to let you see where you are going.

Finally, want to spread some holiday cheer? Why not use solar powered Christmas lights for your outdoor decorations? Have bushes you want to decorate? You can buy solar powered net lights as well. Pretty cool, huh?
