Our top 4 picks are listed below. These guides are ideal for individuals who have no expertise in building a wind power or home solar energy system.

This is the best guide available for building your own wind turbine or home solar energy system. It is constructed with the novice in mind. The step-by-step videos are the most detailed of any we have seen and they are easy to follow.

The instructions are clear and very straight-forward. Anyone should be able to complete a solar panel within a few days. Once you’re past the learning curve, subsequent panels will take even less time. Best of all, the materials you need can be had for under $200.

Green DIY Energy

Rank: # 2

In our opinion, this is the second best guide to have if you are interested in building solar panels or a wind generator to produce electricity.

There was a great deal of indecision when it came to picking this as the number two guide, as some felt this was indeed the best one available.  But in the end I won out (it’s good to be the boss).

I will admit GreenDIYEnergy has a lot going for it.  It starts with an abundance of reference materials and has the best guides we’ve seen when it comes to building wind turbines.

But it was the instructional videos on creating your own home solar energy system that really caught our attention.  These are far and away the highest quality videos of any package we have seen.  They are so easy to follow it makes you feel like you are actually there watching the panels being built.

If you want to know why this wasn’t my number one choice, then click here to read the full review.

Rank: # 3

This was our third choice, but by no means is this a poor product.  To look at it another way, this is the third best choice of the numerous guides we reviewed.

For example, the videos on building solar panels are as detailed as any we have seen.  Even giving the HomeMadeEnergy videos a run for their money.

In addition, you receive a number of related ebooks on renewable energy including two guides on building your own wind turbine.

All in all this is a very good product, we simply liked two others a little better.  You can click here to read the full review and find out why.

Earth4Energy

Rank: # 4

Last but not least is Earth4Energy.  This has been one of the most popular DIY home energy guides for quite some time.

Obviously, you’ll get videos detailing the construction of solar panels along with written instructions as well.

But the one area where this product is different from the rest is when it comes to building your own wind turbine.  This is the only one we tested that actually has a video on the subject.

If wind power is more to your liking this is a guide you will want to consider.  But before making that decision please click here to get all the details.
