   Yes, the velocity of the air would increase, no doubt about that!

   However, along with that velocity increase comes a proportional decrease in the cross-sectional area (8" down to 1/2"), and therefore the net result would be the same amount of "work energy", minus the losses due to turbulence and friction in the process of narrowing down the air stream.

   But keep on trying – you never know, you might hit on a great idea that will save the world!

   A jet engine sucks air in at a high rate allowing internal combustion spinning the turbines.
   For wind to blow through a pipe it needs a driving force like a jet engine.
   Wind power cannot be everwhere, because some areas have little or no wind. Where they are located, when spinning at various speeds a noise emits from them that is very annoying. The noise varies with the speed of the windmill.
   There are constant breezes along the coastlines. Some having more than others.

   you cannot "create" energy.
   if you could, do you not think that the power companies would stop paying saudi arabia for oil?

   in a jet engine, they do compress air.
   but not that much.
   and they use a fan, in fact, a series of fans, to do the job.
   and then they burn jet fuel to create the power.

   yes, if you had of invented this about 3-5 years ago you would have been a millionaire…
   A man in Melbourne has devoloped it, a turbine that is same principles as a jet turbine. but I think he sold it to some major energy company…
   They are called the O’Conner Hush Turbine, (the reason for the hush is they produce very very little noise).
   They also dont take up that large of a room and one of these probably about the diameter of your arm is normally more than enough for the needs of a whole family…
   They also work in very low wind speeds and high wind speeds.
   I think they are about 1kw for the small ones.
   I think the slightly larger ones run at max 3kw…
   I cant remember but the majority of his website seems to be taken down after he sold the idea.
   I have seen one going and they are brilliant and really are almost silent……
